About 20 to 60 minutes after MDMA has been consumed, the first effects become noticeable, such as tingling throughout the body, dry mouth, dilated pupils and a faster heartbeat. Sometimes there is a feeling of trepidation and nausea, which usually subsides quickly. After some time, the psychological effects of MDMA come to the fore: positive as well as negative feelings are perceived more strongly and clearly, inhibitions weaken, emotional closeness and a feeling of belonging with others sets in. Euphoria and feelings of happiness are frequently reported. There may be an intensification of body awareness and a stronger sensation, for example, of music.
